About the Artist
In the Indian and Pakistani cultures, henna parties are abundant throughout all of life's happy times. Since childhood, Anita has had the pleasure of applying henna (also called mehndi) at family and community parties. She took it a step further and started Hennasphere after taking henna courses in India in 2000. Since then, she has adorned many in San Diego and beyond. Anita now resides and works in San Diego as a henna artist and special educator.
The Story of Hennasphere
My wise aunt once told us a
story when we asked her how we could be happy in a world where so much poverty,
crueltly, and sadness exists...
She said, "You must
create a small circle around yourself. Fill it with friends. Fill it with
positivity and love. Fill it with beauty. When you are surrounded with a
beautiful world of your own, you can then step outside of it and spread some of
the beauty to the rest of the world. Give to yourself,...then your family,...
then your friends, and then go beyond."
I wish to live this story
of circles. I feel blessed that I've been graced with the gifts that allow me
to do so. My family, my friends; and overall, my place in life, are gifts that
have been given to me. Hennasphere too has been a gift.
Why the name Hennasphere?
Firstly, it emerged from these thoughts about the concentric circles that
surround each one of us. The circles radiate from smaller to larger as they get
further away from us. It is a philosophy in which I strongly believe.
Secondly, the sphere we
think of first when we hear that word is our world. I wanted to have a business
that would be earth friendly. Henna is all natural. It comes from the Earth. It
doesn’t create trash and take up space in landfills. It is from the Earth and returns to mother Earth gracefully.
Thirdly, Hennasphere’s
goal is to reach out to the world. From a connection between you and I while
henna is being applied, to a connection with a larger circle, I wanted
Hennasphere to connect people. So, a portion of your payment goes toward a
greater good. Your proceeds have funded a cleft lip/palate
surgery for a little boy in the Philippines, clothing and supplies for an orphanage
in Pakistan, materials for building a home for a family in Cambodia and environmental causes here in Southern California.

This business has given
back to me tremendously. I have made many close friends and experienced quite a bit of travel through Hennasphere. I look forward to serving you as my guest and hope
to give you a memorable experience. This is my passion and I hope I can share
